New PACE Home Energy Loan Program Will Help Homeowners Afford Energy Improvements

BELFAST— How local homeowners can finance and move ahead on energy-saving projects for their homes, using Efficiency Maine’s new low-interest loan program, will be the focus of a community forum at Belfast City Hall on Thursday, June 16, from 6:30 to 8:30pm. The event is hosted by the City of Belfast Energy and Climate Committee, Efficiency Maine, and Maine Partners for Cool Communities and its signature Green Sneakers Project. The event in the City Council Chambers at 131 Church St. is open to the public. Homeowners and community leaders are encouraged to attend.

PACE Loan Program Kicks Off in Rockland

Not long after Mid-Coast Green Sneakers Project introduced PACE at a public forum in Rockland, a Rockland homeowner became the first in the state to use the Efficiency Maine PACE loan program to retrofit their drafty 1880’s home. The Rockland based company, Evergreen Home Performance has been contracted to perform the work. The project will save the homeowners an estimated $1200 per year in heating costs. The next wave of Green Sneakers coming to a neighborhood near you!

usme44750 After a successful go round in May, the Green Sneakers Project is gearing up to go door to door again in the communities of Thomaston, South Portland, Bangor/Orono and Lewiston/Auburn on Saturday October 2nd and in Fort Kent on Saturday September 18th. Volunteers are preparing now to go door to door with energy saving information and gifts for homeowners. Online training is provided to volunteers by a local BPI auditor and contractor, so they have a chance to learn more about weatherization themselves and then to take that information to the doorsteps of their friends and neighbors.
