Why Falmouth is Cool
Falmouth, Maine is Cool! On May 29, 2007, the Town Council voted unanimously to sign the US Mayors’ Climate Protection Agreement. A Cool Communities presentation was made initially in August 2006 and in mid-May 2007 a group of citizens asked the council to consider voting at the end of the month. The Council responded to the citizens’ request and also noted that success in this initiative would require continued support and action from citizens as well as elected officials and town staff. Falmouth had already made some steps to become cool. The municipality decided that the next car will be a Prius and the new Public Safety Building will be LEED certified. Having signed the Agreement, Falmouth will make the wise and efficient use of energy a priority. |
